I'm peeling an orange: Dulcis in Fundo x "Kitchen/ Holidays"
Profumum Roma meets Eileen Myles.
Welcome to the second edition of The Scented Stanza. It’s Monday, December 27th. I hope you are warm and sated wherever you are.
A Luckyscent reviewer calls Dulcis in Fundo by Profumum Roma “the most delicious orange panettone ever made” and I cannot help but agree, especially if a pillowy slice of that traditional Italian Christmas bread was then dipped in a steaming bowl of café au lait. The name means “the sweetness at the bottom” or “icing on the cake” and, indeed, Dulcis is a deeply comforting and festive gourmand—it’s also a Holy Grail scent for vanilla lovers. But what sets it apart is its fresh, diaphanous edge that matches Eileen Myles’ poem, “Kitchen/Holidays” so well. The following is a screenshot from their recent book, Evolution, published by Grove Atlantic in 2019.
Follow Eileen Myles on Instagram, why don’t you.
And get your hands on a sample of Dulcis in Fundo.
Fragrantly yours,
