A frozen year: All that Matters by Anamor x "Stopping"
Anamor meets Mary Ruefle's erasure poem.
Welcome to the third edition of The Scented Stanza. It’s Monday, January 3rd.
It’s the first Monday of the new year and I am hunkering down, sketching resolutions, biding my time, and waiting to re-emerge into what will hopefully be a happier season.
Yet, outside, there is still an air of foreboding.
So I want comfort today: a pure musky aura that envelops me for hours. I want lily-of-the valley blooming in the milky snow. I want to be cleansed, to be given a second chance.
All that Matters by Anamor does exactly that. It smells like the warmth of clean laundry, like skin after a frosty cross-country ski. It’s the day you bring the tree down and wind up the twinkly lights. It smells like looking ahead to the pale gold horizon as the sun does its morning stretch.
Pairing the scent this week with the inimitable Mary Ruefle and her erasure poem, “Stopping” which uses Robert Frost’s classic “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Ruefle’s poem can be viewed on the wall of The Robert Frost Stone House Museum in Shaftsbury, Vermont.
